Legacy Preserved in Cellar Treasures

A vintage as esteemed as that of '82 commands particular attention from investors and connoisseurs alike. The investment gravitas wielded by the quink-black depths of this wine cannot be overstated. In every swirl and sip, the robust character derived from an ideal growing season reveals itself; a case study in climatic benevolence underlining St-Julien's ability to produce transcendent claret.

An Exhibition Of Climatic Serendipity

The early eighties were marked by dry conditions ideally suited to knee-high vignettes spread across the well-drained gravel beds of St-Julien. These conditions culminated in a harvest that was not only bountiful but conducted under nigh-perfect circumstances. The 1982 Saint-Pierre's resultant intensity and structure are testaments to this serendipitous convergence of soil and season.

Fast forward four decades, and what remains within each bottle is both a reservoir of complexity and a mirror reflecting the past. Initial notes of blackcurrant and cigar box on the nose yield to a palate resplendent with layers of dark fruit, leather, and earthy undertones—a nectar demonstrating remarkable vibrancy amidst its maturity.

A Confluence Of Elements In Your Portfolio

For potential investors, the 1982 Saint-Pierre is more than mere liquid assets—it's historical currency. It embodies a confluence of elemental perfection: robust viticulture, adept vinification, and the incontestable grace of age. This vintage not only bolsters collections but also adds stature to any curated portfolio.

To ensconce oneself in the velveteen charm of 1982 Saint-Pierre from Chateau Saint-Pierre is to participate in an oenological séance with history—drawing forth whispers from an illustrious epoch in Bordeaux viticulture. As time marches on, such opportunities become scant, making now an auspicious moment for acquisition.

Fully mature, the 1982 has a dark garnet color with some amber creeping in at the edge. The wine offers up a big, smoky nose with licorice, cigar box, cedar, and sweet cherry and black currant fruit. The wine is lush, medium to full-bodied, low in acidity, and very expansive and user-friendly. Anticipated maturity: Now-2007. Last tasted, 9/02.
