2013 Meursault Genevrieres
By Domaine Coche-Dury
2013 Meursault Genevrières from Domaine Coche-Dury, Burgundy, France
In 2013, the oenological tapestry of Burgundy was enriched with a particularly challenging narrative: a year marked by a cold and damp spring that led to late flowering, followed by hailstorms in July. Yet, out of these adversities emerged the mesmerising creation of the 2013 Meursault Genevrières from Domaine Coche-Dury. Notwithstanding weather trials, this wine is the embodiment of triumph over tribulation, dexterously crafted by a winery celebrated for such alchemy.
Expression of Terroir and Artistry
Few could anticipate quite how exquisitely this vintage would express both its noble terroir and the artisanship at Domaine Coche-Dury. With vines deeply rooted in the limestone-rich soils and moderate yields coaxed to perfection, the climatic challenges have merely served to accentuate the minerality and complex structure of this Chardonnay.
The precision with which the 2013 Meursault Genevrières captures the essence of its provenance is nothing short of remarkable. On the palate, it reveals layers of ripe stone fruits interwoven with a filigree of toasted nuts and brioche, enlightened by an enduring streak of Chablis-like acidity that speaks to a cooler growing season.
A Connoisseur's Investment
Herein lies a rare investment opportunity – the chance to partake in a vintage that sings of its lineage with such clarity that one can almost discern each raindrop and ray of sun that has caressed the vineyard. The ageing potential for this vintage is indisputable; it promises to unfold its symphonic complexity over time, making it an enchanting addition to any collector's portfolio.
In summation, the 2013 Meursault Genevrières from Domaine Coche-Dury stands as an effulgent beacon amidst Burgundy’s vast repertoire. Here is a wine that will captivate your senses, commemorate your finest occasions and undoubtedly rise among the ranks as one of the most astute acquisitions for discerning investors.

The 2013 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières has a precise bouquet, tightly wound at first, eventually revealing marine influences, hints of cockle (saltwater clam) and oyster shell, something estuarine here. The palate has impressive volume, but it is the texture that really makes the headlines, almost honeyed – a Meursault with real richness fanning out towards the finish with just a hint of Turkish Delight. This is a hedonistic Meursault Genevrières that might be earlier-drinking than either the 2012 or what I suspect will be the 2014.
