The 2010 Vintage: A Portrait of Elegance and Precision
In the world of fine wines, certain vintages rise to the forefront, etching themselves into the annals of vinous history; the 2010 vintage from Burgundy has rightly earned such distinction. The season commenced with careful restraint, marked by a cool spring that mitigated the vines' vigour. A meticulous summer, punctuated by timely sun and conducive warmth, ushered in a harvest that was as harmonious as it was exacting. The yield from Domaine Leflaive's famed Chevalier Montrachet vineyard manifested these conditions flawlessly.
In delineating this wine's individual character, one encounters a vibrant tapestry woven with the threads of ripe citrus and succulent stone fruits, seamlessly integrated with an undercurrent of toasted almond and buttered brioche. The hallmark of Domaine Leflaive—an ethereal minerality—is pronounced here, as the limestone whispers along with each sip.
The poise displayed by this vintage is impeccable, its palate resolute yet gracefully yielding. The acidity, quite like the virtuous spine it is, maintains the structural integrity throughout decanting and tasting without overpowering its complex, layered fruit expressions.
A Connoisseur’s Investment: The Triumph that is 2010 Chevalier Montrachet
Emphasis on investment-worthy wines often orbits around longevity and pedigree; here, the 2010 Chevalier Montrachet from Domaine Leflaive exults in this sphere. Its poised evolution over time in bottle signifies a resplendent future for those who wisely secure allocations within their cellars.

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières has a very delineated bouquet with limestone and granite notes, very reserved but very harmonious. It is clearly beautifully poised, very feminine and succinct with a very precise, spicy finish that lingers long in the mouth. There are no fireworks here, rather an accomplished cerebral Meursault with considerable ageing potential.
