The 2015 vintage in Burgundy is one that aficionados and collectors should note with alacrity. In particular, the 2015 Echezeaux from Domaine Dujac emerges as a paragon of its terroir, benevolently blessed by climatic conditions that were as close to perfect as one dares to dream. With the warmth of summer and the coolness of autumn wrapped in harmonious synchronicity, this vintage encapsulated an extraordinary balance between ripeness and structure.
Vintage Particularity: Nature's Favourable Nudge
The growing season in 2015 was marked by dryness, leading to smaller berries with concentrated flavours, giving Echezeaux from Domaine Dujac an exceptional intensity. Nature's nudge towards concentration did not overshadow the finesse for which this vineyard is known. Instead, it enhanced the complexity, giving us a wine with a kaleidoscope of deep fruit flavours bounded by an elegant minerality.
Finessed Power: A Tasting Odyssey
On the palate, the 2015 Echezeaux invites an odyssey through layers of spiced plum and crushed red cherries, with subtle hints of violet and earthy undertones. Tannins are assertive yet impeccably polished, denoting a wine with substantial ageing potential—an important consideration for wine investors seeking exemplary bottles for their cellars.
This offering from Domaine Dujac possesses a poised power that synergises with its bright acidity to ensure longevity. While it's certainly charming now, it promises further rewards for those with patience enough to allow its full narrative to unfurl over time.
For the fine wine investor, acquiring the 2015 Echezeaux from Domaine Dujac represents not only a taste of Burgundian excellence but an opportunity to possess a slice of a particularly laudable year. As this vintage matures, its enigmatic conveyance of terroir-based storytelling will no doubt continue to captivate and grow in value.

The excellent 2015 Echezeaux Grand Cru reveals a youthful bouquet of sweet red and black fruit, wood smoke, grilled squab and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and expansive, cutting a broad swathe, its tannins fine-grained and its fruit juicy and succulent, more structurally open-knit than the domaine's grands crus from Morey and Chambolle.
