The noble 2010 Romanee-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru from Domaine Leroy eloquently articulates the symbiosis between an eminent terroir and the virtuosic finesse of one of Burgundy's most storied producers. This particular vintage, a testimony to the fortitude of Burgundian winemaking, epitomises the equilibrium between potentiality and actualisation.

Unravelling the 2010 Vintage Tapestry

The 2010 journey through Burgundy's hallowed vineyards unveiled a season touched by the hands of climatic whim, immaculately preserved in this specific cuvée. Relative to its preceding vintages, 2010 offered challenges that coaxed out a veritable depth of character—the hallmark of this enduring libation. In 2010, an altercation of weather patterns whisked cool, damp periods with those of bountiful sun, hoisting the fruits into a labour of meticulous care and astute judgement.

Amidst such trials emerged a wine sparkling with finesse; the Romanee-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru's congregation of ripe red berries and earthy undergrowth pronounces its narrative. Each sip delivers a lecture on the nuances intrinsic to this vineyard: the noble rotundity found only under Domaine Leroy's custodianship, mingling confidently with hints of cherry ambrosia and the subtlest touch of spice—whispers from an Orient tale.

Its seamless texture glides across the palate—a tableau painted with broad strokes of well-integrated tannins and mineral detail. The wine beckons investors and connoisseurs alike to partake in an exclusive symphony, composed by 2010's climatic opus and Domaine Leroy's artistic maestrosity.

In conclusion, this vintage is no mere footnote in oenological annals—it stands as an effigy to excellence. With every bottle resting in cellars globally lies dormant energy; once decanted, it breathes life into conversations and investments alike—true testament to its outstanding genesis. The 2010 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru is spectacular, unfurling in the glass with a deep bouquet of wild red berries, potpourri, smoked duck and exotic spices. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, with utterly suave structuring tannins and a superb line of acidity that lends the wine immense length and focus—in contrast to the broader, more expansive and gourmand Richebourg served alongside it. This is a real highlight of the 2010 portfolio and I suspect it is holding a great deal in reserve to be revealed over the coming decade and beyond.
