2000 Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill
By Pol Roger
The Sophisticated Allure of the 2000 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill from Pol Roger
In the pantheon of elite Champagne, no other edifice shines quite as lustrously as that of the 2000 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill from Pol Roger. Named after Britain's most famous Prime Minister who was also an ardent admirer of Pol Roger, this cuvée is a ringing testimony to the profound potency of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay when they find a dance partner in an ideal climatic ensemble.
Characterizing the 2000 Harvest
The climatic mood swings of the year 2000 played a crucial role in shaping this vintage. While summer unspooled its slow, sultry charms, conditions veered towards a cooler front in early August before transitioning to a warm and dry September. This capricious weather prologue etched the grapes with a unique expression of finesse and complexity, pivotal attributes that distinguish this vintage from its compatriots.
Exuberance Meets Grace
Ashimmer with fine bubbles that pirouette like celestial confetti in your glass, the 2000 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill from Pol Roger resonates with an octave of flavor intensity that simply mesmerizes. Ribbons of toasty brioche unfurl over crisp notes of green apple and pear, all burnished by delicate overtones of almond and hazelnut. The generous palate that paves way for a crescendo of minerality marks this sparkling escapade as a harmonious affair between elegance and oomph.
A Fine Investment Proposition
Superlative investment potential is one facet that distinguishes this bottle from other wines seeking collector attention. Given its limited production status and age-worthy resilience, it presents a compelling case for appreciation, positioning it as a touchstone inclusion in any dedicated wine investment portfolio. The viability of this bottle as an investment cannot be overstated.
A toast then to yesteryear’s grandeur and tomorrow's glory with this venerable bubbly - The 2000 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill from Pol Roger retains a sparkle around the edges that makes it both sublime hedonistic pleasure and sterling investment bait!

The first thing that is evident about the 2000 Brut Cuvee Sir Winston Churchill is its finesse and total silkiness. The 2000 is a rich, creamy and deeply expressive Winston Churchill. I don’t see the 2000 being an especially long-term ager, but it is wonderfully radiant and open today. Hints of pastry, spice, apricots and succulent ripe pears blossom on the expansive, broad-shouldered finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2030.
