Penfolds Grange 2014 has been released in the UK at £4,140 per case of 12, marking a 4% increase on the 2013 release at £3,996.

The vintage has impressed critics. Jancis Robinson gave it a high 18.5 points and commented that it’s “very exciting” and “different”. Indeed, Penfolds’ chief winemaker Peter Gago said it may only be comparable to the 2004.

The Wine Advocate’s Joe Czerwinski, meanwhile, awarded the wine 98 points and described it as “rich, concentrated and intense”.

As Liv-ex notes, this price point puts the 2014 slightly above the 2004, which received a higher score and offers bottle age. Score-conscious buyers might be interested in the 2008 and 2013, which are slightly more expensive, but each boast a perfect 100 points.
