An Embodiment of Vintage Distinction
1996 unfurled with climatic whimsy in Burgundy, blessing the region with conditions that carved out wines of exceptional balance and longevity. Specifically, for Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses, this meant the birth of an exquisite nectar, that harmonised the purity of fruit with enchanting layers of tertiary complexity - a combination coveted by astute investors and connoisseurs alike.
The indelible imprint of this growing season imbues the wine with a firm backbone of acidity, juxtaposed gracefully against a balletic display of ripe red berries, earthy nuances, and an alluring hint of gaminess. Vibrant cherry and subtle rose petal notes pirouette on the palate, with whispering tannins and whispered nuances of oak sauntering to an enduring finish- an experience as sumptuous as it is cerebral.

Tasted blind, the 1996 Chambolle Musigny les Amoureuses has an intense, animally, floral nose with some warmth of alcohol just blurring the detail. With time in the glass there is a touch of violet coming through. The palate is quite sensual and rounded, full and voluminous in the mouth with a real confit quality. For me, it lacks a little finesse, especially considering the vineyard, although it continues to give pleasure.
