Vintage Vicissitudes: The Distinct Mark of 2019

Coaxed into existence by a season that flirted with extremes, the 2019 vintage stood resilient under the duress of fluctuating weather patterns. A mild winter laid the groundwork, while spring's warm embrace was followed by humid spurts and sporadic rains that challenged the vines. It was ultimately a warm summer and an exceptionally dry autumn that brought forth a fruit that was both ripe and concentrated, resulting in an impeccable harvest.

The 2019 Lascombes is an articulate expression of this dance between climate and terroir. Possessing a profound depth, its layers unravel to reveal dark fruits interlaced with an elemental minerality and subtle spice nuances, reminiscent of the region's gravelly soils.

Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Lascombes charges out of the gate with brazen scents of blackcurrant jelly, Black Forest cake and black raspberries plus touches of cedar chest, lilacs, pencil lead, camphor and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate possesses beautiful poise and freshness, with a firm line of ripe, finely grained tannins supporting the intense, crunchy black fruits, finishing on a lingering mineral note.
