Nuanced Expressions: The Mark of a Remarkable Vintage
The vintage of 2018 was characterised by a warmth that sculpted Burgundy's yields into robust yet elegantly delineated forms. In the glass, this La Romanee exudes an assemblage of aromas – dark cherry mingling with a fragrant bouquet that hints at floral violets, reflecting its noble lineage and the veritable essence of its terroir.
The palate beckons with a profound complexity; ripe red berries dance alongside an undercurrent of subtle spices and earthy truffle. These are the sentiments evoked by patient and precise vinification coupled with the grace brought forth by oak's cadence. The structure is resolved, yet promises longevity – a testament to Liger-Belair's masterful alchemy.

The 2018 La Romanée Grand Cru is the most reserved cuvée in the range, unwinding in the glass with notes of cherries, raspberries, dark chocolate, plums and spices that's framed by a nicely integrated bouquet of creamy new oak. It's full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with a deep and multidimensional core that saturates the palate and largely conceals the wine's powdery structuring tannins. Underpinned by a lively spine of acidity and concluding with a long and pungently perfumed finish, this is a very serious La Romanée built for the cellar.
