In order to help consumers understand the provenance of his Charmes-Chambertin, Christophe Roumier has added “En Mazoyeres” to his 2002, clearly indicating that it is from the Mazoyeres-Chambertin vineyard (a strange law allows wines from Mazoyeres to be called Charmes). It bursts from the glass with stupendous, mouth-watering aromas of kirsch, candied cherries, perfume, flowers, and Asian spices. On the palate it is silky-textured, lush, medium-bodied, and sweet. Its suave flavor profile reveals loads of forward red fruit notes that linger in its long, ripe tannin-packed finish. Projected maturity: 2006-2013.
