By Domaine Meo-Camuzet
2010 Richebourg from Domaine Meo-Camuzet, Burgundy, France
Embarking on a journey through Burgundy’s most hallowed terroirs brings us to the lauded gates of Domaine Meo-Camuzet, producers of one of the region's most compelling narratives in bottle form – the 2010 Richebourg. The vintage itself casts a memorable silhouette against the broader canvas of Vosne-Romanée's storied vintages.
A Vintage to Remember: The Complexity and Elegance of 2010
Among the quilt of fine vintages produced by this esteemed producer, the 2010 Richebourg captures the imagination with its intricate dance of power and finesse. A season marked by an auspicious interplay of climatic conditions rendered wines that command attention for their structured, spellbinding nature.
A cooler-than-average summer and timely warmth in September allowed the Pinot Noir grapes to mature with an alluring tension between ripe fruit profiles and conscientious acidity. These elements conspire to position the 2010 vintage in Burgundy as one entwined with harmony and ripe for investment.
The Artistry of Domaine Meo-Camuzet
Domaine Meo-Camuzet's approach during this notable year was, as ever, one of devout attention to detail. The result? A Richebourg with a seductive bouquet: violets intermingle with spiced red cherries while earthy undertones speak true to its noble roots.
On the palate, this 2010 Richebourg unfurls like a tapestry woven from silken threads—all red fruits, game, and a whisper of licorice, framed by tannins that glide rather than grip. Its poised evolution evident upon each revisited sip suggests an acclaimed future ahead.
The intersection of ethereal balance and architectural precision in this wine provides a strong case for collectors and investors alike. It embodies Burgundian excellence with a charisma unique to 2010—a flawless conjunction worthy of astute consideration.
Sumptuous Sophistication: 2010 Richebourg for Discerning Devotees
In summary, the 2010 Richebourg from Domaine Meo-Camuzet is a testament to the timeless allure of Burgundy’s wines—a resplendent vintage moulded by nature’s own rhythm, nurtured by human touch, that stands as a cornerstone offering for any serious investor or connoisseur orbiting the Burgundian scene. The 2010 Richebourg shows off considerable vibrancy and sheer tannic heft. A core of dark red fruit drives through the mid-palate as this energetic, vibrant wine opens up in the glass. The wine turns layered and finessed on the finish, with piercing mineral notes that add a crystalline purity that is striking. Patience will be key here. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2045. Jean-Nicolas Meo was away on the day of my visit, so I tasted with assistant winemaker Peer Reiss. The harvest started on September 22 and took about ten days to complete. Overall, I am a big fan of the 2010s here. Although I did not get a chance to taste the 2009s from bottle, my notes suggest 2010 will turn out to be the more interesting vintage.
