The 2009 Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto D.O.C.G. from Bruno Giacosa

In the complex tapestry of fine wines from Italy, Bruno Giacosa stands tall as a legendary viticulturist and winemaker. His offering for 2009, the Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto D.O.C.G., is a perfect embodiment of his craft paired with a year that offered an ideal alignment of climates.

A Gem in the Nebbiolo Crown

Barolo, often referred famously to as the king of wines, lives up to its title in this stunning composition. Nebbiolo's inherent tannin structure, rich with varietal characteristics, layers a character into this wine that is both complex and outright seducing.

The Distinct Harmony of 2009

The 2009 vintage saw climatic conditions play out like a well-conducted symphony. A combination of conducive spring rains and a superbly warm summer with evenly spread temperatures gave perfect nurturing conditions to the Nebbiolo grapes. As a result, they delivered concentrated fruit flavors without losing their essential acidic structure - a balance that imparts an elegance to the finale.

Fascinating aromatic complexities entwined harmoniously, creating an elegant palette boasting notes of undergrowth, dried roses, tar, and ripe cherries. One could savour this enigmatic character for long minutes without ever growing weary. This flirts brightly with the very apex of quality attainable within Barolo.

Fine Wine Investment Worth Savoring

This fine wine stands as an alluring candidate for long-term investment in your cellar portfolio, particularly due to its vintage's distinguishing palate profile combined with exceptional aging potential typical of Bruno Giacosa's Barolo. The generous fruit and silky texture are underscored by a backbone of notable tannins that ensure the wine's evolution will retain an appealing balance for several years to come.

In conclusion, the 2009 Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto D.O.C.G. from Bruno Giacosa signifies a profound interpretation of the terroir and the vintage, creating one of the most promising investment opportunities in fine wines today.

The 2009 Barolo Le Rocche del Falletto comes from a south-facing parcel with steep slopes for well-draining soils. The vines are approximately 35 years old. There-s a touch of extra ripeness here, even a hint of strawberry, backed by rich berry fruit, cassis and blackberry. The wine shows its most elegant side in the mouth, where the firming, polished tannins give the wine backbone and grace. It-s deliciously silky and extra fine with microscopic precision. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2036. With the return of winemaker Dante Scaglione in 2011, the wines of Bruno Giacosa (-the genius of Neive-) continue to impress. Bruna Giacosa, Bruno-s daughter, has taken over daily operations at the winery since her father suffered a stroke in 2006. Importer: Folio Fine Wine Partners, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 256-2700
