By Antinori

2009 Tignanello from Antinori, Italy

A glorious example of the fine wines from Italy, the 2009 Tignanello from Antinori is a testament to rich heritage and the art of fine winemaking. Crafted in the lush vineyards of Tuscany, Antinori created a vintage that has withstood the test of time, remaining vibrant and complex more than a decade after its bottling.

Gifts of Heritage and Terroir

Known for its resilience and mastery over varietals, Antinori's efforts in 2009 produced a Tignanello that was a captivating blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The painstaking harvesting in a cooler-than-usual year resulted in a wine that is measured, yet daring – one that carries with it the whispers of time and tradition.

A Vintage Immersed in Character

The 2009 growing season manifested itself magnificently in this vintage. The late summer rains were precisely what the grapes needed to develop layer upon layer of aroma and flavor. This unique micro-climatic condition has lent an almost tactile complexity to this iconic wine's profile.

The 2009 Tignanello from Antinori is an intricate weave of dark fruit accents, underscored by earthy notes. A mature and confident wine, it exhibits an intriguing interplay between austerity and exuberance, with subtle spice undertones keeping company with well-rounded tannins.

Investing in Timeless Elegance

Investors seeking out vintages that impeccably marry tradition with innovation will find the 2009 Tignanello from Antinori to be a valuable addition to their portfolios. Its distinguished lineage, strong personality and longevity make it a stellar investment opportunity – a remarkable illustration of Italian winemaking ethos captured in one compelling bottle.

In conclusion, the 2009 Tignanello from Antinori is a splendid representation of its birth year and terroir – a fine testament to the artistry and resilience that mirrors Italy’s passionate spirit. Generous on the palate and astounding in its depth, it remains one of the captivating exemplars of the timeless charm that Italian wines offer to discerning palates and prudent investors alike.

The 2009 Tignanello is quite beautiful. Cedar, graphite, sweet herbs, licorice and leather add complexity to a core of highly expressive red fruits. The 2009 impresses for its energy, drive and focus. Today, the 2009 comes across as slightly understated relative to many recent vintages, especially 2007 and 2008. There is a silkiness and polish that is reminiscent of the 2004. Tignanello is 75% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc from vineyards in San Casciano Val di Pesa, one of the most evocative hillsides in all of Italy. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. Longtime winemaker Renzo Cotarella has done a fabulous job with the flagships Tignanello and Solaia in 2009. In my blind tastings the pedigree of those two wines in particular came through with notable eloquence. The 2010 Tignanello and Solaia are both thrilling at this stage. They could very well turn out even better than the 2009s. Readers may want to look at my short video on the 2010s from Antinori on our website. Importer: Ste.
