Market activity increased this week by both value and volume following the three-month low reported by Liv-ex last week.
Champagne has traded particularly well, with the region maintaining its share by value at 18.2%. Louis Roederer’s Cristal 2008 was the week’s most active wine, last trading for £2,110 per case of 12. According to Antonio Galloni’s latest tasting note, the 98+ point wine “looks like it will soon take its place alongside the greatest Cristal vintages.” He added that “today, it is breathtaking”.
Other regions also saw increased activity, with Italy’s share of total climbing from 4.6% last week to 9.3% this week, boosted largely by interest in Tignanello 2014 and Ornellaia 2014.
Spain’s Vega Sicilia, Unico 2005, meanwhile, helped push the ‘Others’ category up to 6.1% share of total, from 3.2% the previous week.
