Yquem 2016 has been released at €250 per bottle ex-negociant, equal to the 2015 and 2014 release price.
Critics have applauded the wine, with Neal Martin awarding it 95-97 points and Antonio Galloni, who called it “a magical wine”, giving it 94-97 points. James Suckling (98-99), meanwhile, described it as “sexy and moreish” and a “wine that makes you want to drink the whole bottle”.
According to Liv-ex, the 2016 is being offered at a price point above all other vintages apart from the 2009, which was scored higher. Buyers might alternatively look to the 2015, which was rated a perfect 100 points by Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, and is currently available at a 15.5% discount to today’s release.
Y de Yquem 2017, the dry white from Yquem, has also been released today at €98 per bottle ex-negociant, the same price as last year’s release – it’s not yet been reviewed by any major critics.
