Distinct Vintage, Distinct Character
The narrative of the 1999 vintage in Burgundy is one of abundant yields and exuberant fruit profiles, fortified by the precision of harmonious weather patterns—factors that are delightfully echoed in this offering. What sets the 1999 Vosne Romanee les Brulees apart lies in its intricate combination of opulent fruit and eloquent maturation—a dichotomy deftly handled by Jean-Nicolas Méo.
Vibrant cherries and the quintessential Vosne spices pirouette atop a backbone of softly integrated tannins, while tertiary nuances whisper of forest floor and truffle, a testament to the wine's poised evolution. These redolent bouquets are further enlivened by a vivacious acidity that insists upon the wine's longevity, despite the temptation to partake in its current splendour.

The exquisite potential for growth in both complexity and value recommends this singular vintage as a keystone for any ascent into serious Burgundy investment. It is an emblematic expression of Domaine Meo-Camuzet's dedication to the artistry of fine wine - one that yields returns not just in financial terms but in sensory dividends unparalleled by lesser vintages.
In sum, the crystalline character of this 1999 gem makes it an investment proposition as alluring as the liquid poetry it embodies—a true enological jewel befitting of the most refined portfolio.

The 1999 Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru Les Brulees, served blind, has a deep, broody nose that feels younger than its 15 years. There is plenty of ripeness here, slightly medicinal, with just a hint of menthol emerging with time in the glass, a nose that expresses the precocity of that season. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, chewy tannins – a robustness that marks out a great Brulees. There is good depth: a sturdy and forthright Vosne-Romanee with a sweet, plush finish that suggests it will chug along nicely for another decade. Tasted March 2014.
