Since Maxime Cheurlin took over this estate in 2010, these wines have never been better. They boast some of the finest sites in Vosne such as Grands Échezeaux, Les Beaux Monts, Les Petits Monts and Les Chaumes, with average vine age of 50-60 years. Maxime’s natural talent, at just 27 years of age, is producing some of the most exciting wines out of Vosne-Romanée today. He is handcrafting beautifully ethereal Pinots full of energy and fragrance. The Domaine is minuscule with just 5.5 hectares, although there is also a Bourgogne Rouge and Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits which give a great introduction to the house style, worth seeking out. If you happen to go to Vosne-Romanée you might spot Maxime accompanied by his dog, Lafite, inspecting vineyards.
Domaine Georges Noëllat, Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, Burgundy, France 2016
Bright ruby red core, intense fragrance and focus right from the start. Juicy redcurrants with ripe raspberries wrapped around the mineral core. Fresh, juicy and vibrant on the palate.

Domaine Georges Noëllat, Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy, France 2016
Textbook Vosne at its finest, soft red cherry and plums loaded with mineral freshness and a lovely aromatic floral bouquet. I just love its proportion, freshness and depth, surprising considering the very light colour.

Domaine Georges Noëllat, Nuits-St-Georges 1er Cru Aux Cras, Burgundy, France 2016
Darker colour with mostly dark cherry fruit mixed with redcurrant and prunes. There is tension on the palate and a lovely fresh ending that is very juicy.

Intense and rich, with smoke-infused red berries and a note of dark cherry, all surrounded by a flinty spiciness’ with fantastic purity and precision.

Domaine Georges Noëllat, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, Burgundy, France 2016
Sleek and elegant with a seamless combination of fruit, minerals and oak that clearly displays Maxime’s genius. Super-fresh and fine with length and delineation, and a very fine finish blending purity and precision of fruit on the exquisite aftertaste.

Domaine Georges Noëllat, Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru, Burgundy, France 2016
Like a fine perfume, very precise and incredibly neat showing a symphony of aromatics with a very seductive mix of beautifully ripe raspberry, cranberry, red bell pepper, smoke and dried flowers. The clarity of flavour is superb, showing tension and richness in the right places. For me, this is a reminder of why we love this job!
