James Suckling has started unveiling his scores on Bordeaux 2017, starting with the Right Bank.
In his report, he comments that the vintage is “by no means the great 2015 or 2016, but neither is it the weak 2013.” He had previously predicted that the vintage will be “a great terroir year, where the properties with the best vineyard sites made the best wines.” Indeed, his thoughts post-tasting suggest some top estates made outstanding wines, while others have made “below-par wines”.
None, however, have achieved a coveted 100 points. As seen in the table above, the highest scorers – which include Cheval Blanc, Chateau L'Eglise Clinet and Chateau Lafleur – have peaked at 97-98.
Suckling’s Left Bank tastings are currently underway.
