2004 Le Pin from Château Le Pin, Pomerol, Bordeaux

The 2004 Le Pin from Château Le Pin inhabits the wine connoisseur’s consciousness not merely for its brand reverence but for the beguiling charm it possesses, one that is fruit of a vintage punctuated by meteorological capriciousness. In Pomerol, 2004 was a year that tested vintner's agility; however, the season ultimately bestowed an unexpected grace upon the fruit that graced this exalted terroir.

Meticulous Craftsmanship Yielding Investment-worthy Elegance

Amidst initial concerns of a challenging growing season, the diligent vintners at Château Le Pin have conjured a masterpiece that encapsulates the adaptability of this prestigious estate. Its composition—a tapestry of well-defined structure mingled with dark fruits and a silky minerality—is evocative of Pomerol’s age-old dance with merlot. In the 2004 Le Pin, one finds not just a wine of momentary pleasure but an articulate investment proposition.

Climatic Whimsy and Wines With Stories To Tell

As Bordeaux aficionados will note, the year's inclement spring yielded to a dry and warm summer, making diligent canopy management the keystone practice that distinguished mediocre wines from those of transcendental caliber. It is in this harvest-time continuum that the 2004 Le Pin found its voice. Delightful nuances emerge upon decantation; truffles entwine with plums and cassis, enveloped by gentle tannins and an enduring finish—an articulate ode to the artisan’s triumph over climatic trials.

In reviewing investment-grade wines such as the 2004 Le Pin from Château Le Pin, one must acknowledge the heavyweight presence it commands in both personal cellar portfolios and on the broader wine investment stage. The combination of rarity, finesse, and its birthstory year's narrative makes this vintage both a tactile delight and a financial jewel.

Conclusion: An Oenophile's Investment Chronicle

Each swirl and sip of the 2004 Le Pin stands as testimony to Pomerol’s resilience, echoing through time as an exquisite encounter between climate's design and human prowess. Imbued with velvety class—a class only wines of profound pedigree dare claim—the 2004 vintage promises a continued ascent in desirability amongst collectors and investors alike. For those seeking to enrich their collection with a vintage illustrating both character and commandment over adversity, 2004 Le Pin from Château Le Pin is an unvarnished must.

There are 580 cases of the exotic, flamboyant 2004 Le Pin. Its dense plum/ruby color is accompanied by sweet aromas of kirsch, cassis, smoke, earth, and roasted herbs. Super-opulent for the vintage, it possesses wonderful fruit and glycerin, medium to full body, and a fleshy personality. It should drink well young, yet age nicely for two decades or more. The Pomerol of the vintage?

Tasted at Bipin Desai’s Le Pin vertical in Los Angeles. A deep ruby colour. The nose is relatively linear compared to other vintages of Le Pin with red-berried fruit: cranberry, raspberry and traces of tar and dark chocolate. Good definition, albeit a little conservative. The palate is elegant and well balanced with a fine structure, notes of raspberry, cranberry and wild strawberry, a lightweight Le Pin with just a little dryness towards the finish. This is a Le Pin that opts to play it safe and should provide pleasurable medium-term drinking. A comparatively generous vintage of 780 cases. Drink now-2018. Tasted November 2008.
