Deciphering the Essence of 2010
Praised for its aristocratic lineage, the 2010 vintage is an archetype of Domaine Armand Rousseau's dedication to viticultural artistry. The realignment of elements in 2010 crowned it as one of the most investable wines, with conversion of its cellar worthiness into a tangible asset.
A Tapestry of Terroir and Time
Within the glass, one discovers an eloquent dance of crimson and ruby—echoing a promenade through Chambertin's finest plots. On the nose, complex aromas drift in enigmatic waves; smoky undertones give way to a cavalcade of black cherry, licorice, and a whisper of truffle. The palate enthrones elegance, where silk-like tannic weave gives audience to layers of red and dark berries balanced by vivacious acidity and supported by an expanse worthy of Mazis' majestic name.
The finish is distinguished as ever -- lingering longer than guests after a Banquet Royale. It is here where Rousseau's understanding of their craft becomes indisputable—the denouement of savour resonating on both tongue and in memory.

The 2010 Chambertin is exceptional for its polish and sheer elegance. Nothing in particular stands out, instead the Chambertin impresses for its fabulous overall sense of harmony. The integration of fruit, tannin and oak is beyond impeccable. Silky tannins wrap around a finish laced with dark red berries, licorice and sweet spices. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2050. My visit with Eric Rousseau was one of the highlights of my fall trip. The 2010s are fabulous from top to bottom. Rousseau started picking on September 22. The fruit saw about four days of cold soak followed by a cuvaison that lasted anywhere from 15 to 21 days, depending on the wine. I was equally thrilled with the 2009s I tasted from bottle. I will have more on those wines in our April issue. Importer: Frederic Wildman & Sons, New York, NY; tel. (212) 355-0700

The 2010 Mazis-Chambertin is explosive and totally beautiful in every way. Sweet red berries, roses, mint and hard candy come together in a striking display of class. Rousseau says the Mazis gets better with age, a frightening prospect considering just how good the wine is today. An endless, seamless finish is the only fitting conclusion. The Mazis is flat-out great. Anticipated maturity: 2025-2035. My visit with Eric Rousseau was one of the highlights of my fall trip. The 2010s are fabulous from top to bottom.
