Grasping a glass of the 2006 Meursault Genevrieres from Domaine Coche-Dury is akin to receiving a masterclass in Burgundian finesse from one of its most revered custodians. The 2006 vintage presents itself as particularly telling, a testament to the winemaker's prowess in dealing with a growing season that threw both temperate and tumultuous conditions into the fray.

A Vintage Reflection: Terroir Triumphs

Considered one of the venerable vintage offerings from the renowned Coche-Dury, the 2006 iteration of Meursault Genevrieres bares the hallmark complexity and subtlety you'd expect, albeit through the lens of a challenging climatic year. Spring was cool and auspicious, summer broiled with intense heat until relief came with autumn; these oscillating conditions required deft vineyard stewardship, resulting in a wine that exhibits remarkable balance despite Mother Nature's caprices.

Taste Notes: Precision and Patina

The subtle interplay of minerality and creaminess underscores this vintage’s poise. On tasting, one is greeted by an entrancing bouquet; it blossoms into orchestrated flavours of ripe peach, sliced almond, and a whispering hint of citrus zest. As with all Genevrieres under Coche-Dury’s stewardship, there is an arresting purity which reverberates through to a long finish brimming with a refined buttery texture complemented by an energetic mineral streak.

Vintage investors know that such wines are far more than mere libations; they are liquid portfolios enhancing one’s collection both in refinement and potential value growth. And so it is with the 2006 Meursault Genevrieres—a tangible asset indeed.

Connoisseur's Verdict: A Sterling Investment

In summing up this Burgundian jewel, it is imperative to acknowledge that the 2006 Meursault Genevrieres is not merely another fine wine but an investment-grade work from Domaine Coche-Dury. The 2006 Meursault Genevrieres has a reticent bouquet at first, unfolding gradually in the glass to reveal hints of citrus peel, smoke and even a hints of chestnut. It seems to have more delineation that other 2006s that I have tasted from the domaine. The palate is Meursault through and through with walnut and hazelnut notes, very well judged acidity and a captivating poise on the finish. There are hints of spice and praline lingering on the aftertaste. This is certainly the Coche Dury that I would pick from this vintage.
