Millennial Mastery: A Vintage to Savour
The inclement vicissitudes characteristic of Burgundy seemed to have taken a rest during the 2000 growing season, endowing Domaine Comte de Vogue's esteemed plots with a gracious climate for grape maturation. The result was a harvest that bore fruit of impeccable balance, subsequently nurturing wines of profound elegance and depth. In investment terms, the 2000 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru offers a sterling opportunity for connoisseurs and investors alike, highlighting an attractive intersection of quality and potential appreciation.
Eloquence in Elevation: Terroir’s Triumph
With regal demeanour, the 2000 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru from Domaine Comte de Vogue unfolds in the glass, parading an opulent yet crystalline ruby hue. Redolent of dark cherries and ripe plum, it weaves an olfactory tapestry enriched by earthy truffles and a whisper of sous-bois. The palate is graced with silken tannins—akin to fine threads woven methodically through a fabric of mature red berries and a hint of spice. Mineral undertones affirm the wine's noble born terroir-speaking vividly of its cherished Côte de Nuits lineage.
Decanting brings forth layers further compounding to the notion that patience issued two decades ago has been rightfully rewarded. The length of finish courting grace rather than grandeur, speaks truth to Bonnes-Mares' inherent complexity and longevity—an impressive vintage still unfurling.
An Investment Palette Painted with Prestige
The mirepoix of climatic generosity, vineyard pedigree and Domaine Comte de Vogue's tireless devotion culminates in this sophisticated vinous artefact. A vintage praised for its immediate charm upon release is now revealing secondary nuances that beckon introspection—and indeed, investment interest.
In fine wine investment circles where provenance is paramount, the status of Domaine Comte de Vogue aligns with this splendid vintage to elevate portfolios as it does palates—a testament to meticulous stewardship and Mother Nature's occasional magnanimity.
For those looking ahead, securing allocations of this revered vintage is a choice well guided; as time marches on, so too does the allure of the 2000 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru from Domaine Comte de Vogue—a classic tribute to Burgundian mastery.

Aromatically, the 2000 Bonnes Mares bursts with spices and blackberries. Notes of cedar are intermingled with spiced coffee cake, chocolate-covered cherries, and blackberries in its generous, delectable personality. This well-balanced and structured wine improved with air during our tasting. Projected maturity: now-2012. The 2000 vintage is yet another success story at Domaine du Comte Georges de Vogue. After having performed an evasivage (the removal of excess buds after flowering), the Vogue team still believed they had too much fruit on the vines and dropped half of the bunches prior to veraison as they did in 2001. In the end, they harvested a moderate 30 hectoliters per hectares in a vintage where their neighbors set records. According to Millet, the fact that the yields were kept under control also served to ensure a “very healthy” harvest.
