Provenance and Prestige: A Stellar Investment

The vines of Domaine Dujac, rooted in the hallowed soils of Romanée St Vivant, bear fruit that is the envy of the Côte de Nuits. In 2009, this illustrious patch of terroir gifted us a wine that is both a sensory delight and a compelling investment vehicle. The collectable nature of this wine emanates not just from its esteemed lineage but also from the notable climatic conditions that defined its vintage character.

A Vintage That Speaks Volumes: 2009 Exuberance

An auspicious start to the growing season set the stage for excellence, with a long and dry summer enabling full phenolic maturity while preserving essential acidity. The result is a 2009 Romanee St Vivant that resonates with opulence yet retains an underlying structure that prognosticates remarkable longevity. This wine offers a masterful blend of succulent red and black cherries, accompanied by an undercurrent of violets and exotic spices - hallmarks of this storied appellation.

The Domaine Dujac's precise viticulture techniques allowed for a wine that is not overwhelmed by the warmth of the year, but instead dances elegantly between power and finesse. A plush mouthfeel leads into a long, aromatic finish — a true testament to winemaker Jeremy Seysses' deft hand and respectful approach to winemaking.

In summary, the 2009 Romanee St Vivant from Domaine Dujac offers investors and collectors an exemplary representation of both the vintage's character and the winery's unerring commitment to quality. Its intricate layers and poised evolution over time affirm its status as one of the most desirable investments for Burgundian aficionados seeking both pleasure and prestige in their portfolio.

The 2009 Romanee St. Vivant has come together beautifully since I tasted it last year. Sweet red cherries, roses, mint and orange peel float on the palate in this sensual, utterly beguiling wine. This is an effortless, gracious Burgundy of the highest level. The 2009 character comes through in spades, but there is something about the Romanee St. Vivant that transcends vintage. Call it the utmost in classicism. The Romanee St. Vivant can be slow out of the gate, but once it starts blossoming in bottle it is truly majestic. Readers lucky enough to find the 2009 are in for a treat. Anticipated maturity: 2024-2044. My tasting at Dujac was one of the highlights of the two weeks I spent in Burgundy in late November/early December 2011. I tasted through all the 2010s in barrel and 2009s in bottle. The domaine’s 2009s are among the wines of the vintage. Importers: The Sorting Table, Napa, CA; tel. (415) 491-4724; Martin Scott Wines, Little Neck, NY; tel.
