An Oenophile’s Dream: A Vintage Worth Investing
The terroir of les Amoureuses vineyard presents finesse, breeding wines that are the very epitome of elegance from this appellation. The climatic conditions from this particular year wedded with the genius of Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier have birthed a poignant expression of Pinot Noir: supple yet profound, with an aromatic profile redolent of violets intermingling effortlessly with smoky minerality, a hallmark of its limestone origins.
Capturing the Heart of Fine Wine Collectors
The palate is greeted with a harmonious ballet of dark cherries and ethereal whispers of raspberry, interlaced with a subtle hint of oak – courtesy of judicious maturation. With each swirl in the glass, secondary notes emerge, underpinned by truffles and a touch of spice, speaking to the beginnings of an intriguing evolution that will thoroughly captivate the fine wine investor. It is in these layers that the true artistry of Mugnier shines through.
Firm yet silken tannins suggest that while extraordinarily approachable now, this 2009 Chambolle Musigny les Amoureuses is poised for further majesty as it continues to unfold in the cellars of those astute enough to secure parcels. The balance between concentration and purity is nothing short of masterful - it is a vintage that endows collectors with both immediate gratification and the promise of longevity.

The 2009 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureses is sweet, layered and totally beautiful. At the same time, it is pretty clear the wine has already begun to shut down. With time in the glass, some of the typical weightless energy of Amoureuses comes through, but despite its considerable appeal, the wine is showing only a fraction of its ultimate potential. I imagine the 2009 will enjoy a long drinking window once it awakens from its current slumber. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. Frederic Mugnier insists that his 2009s will outlive his 2010s. Tasting these 2009s from bottle, it hard to argue with that view. A Becky Wasserman Selection, Le Serbet, various American importers, including: Martin Scott Wines, Little Neck, NY; tel.
