Distinguished Pedigree, Astute Viniculture

With the venerable Domaine Meo-Camuzet at the helm, this Richebourg is a testament to meticulous winemaking and profound respect for terroir. A Vintage Character Defined

The 2009 vintage at Burgundy was distinctive for its warm spring and summer days, balanced by cool nights – an amalgam that has been instrumental in shaping the 2009 Richebourg's profile. Here we find a tapestry of deep cherry and blackcurrant notes, interlaced with hints of Asian spices and an ineffable earthiness revered in fine Burgundian reds. The palate delivers with both intensity and elegance; ripe tannins provide structure without overshadowing the dynamic fruit core.

A combination of concentration and poise gives this wine an edge for long-term investment, as it promises continued evolution and complexity over time. Furthermore, Domaine Meo-Camuzet's steadfast commitment to organic viticulture has left an indelible imprint on this wine, amplifying its purity and connection to place.

In summation, harnessing the climatic grace of 2009 within Vosne-Romanée's hallowed confines has resulted in a Richebourg that offers both a snapshot of its exceptional year and a vivid portrayal of its distinguished terroir. For those with a discerning eye on investment-grade wines, adding the 2009 Richebourg from Domaine Meo-Camuzet to one’s portfolio would be a decisively astute acquisition.

The 2009 Richebourg is a rather subtle wine for this site. It shows good intensity in its dark red fruit, minerals and flowers. The finish is exceptionally long and elegant, which hints at the wine’s promise. Today the Richebourg is holding back much of its potential, but it looks to be a relatively feminine Burgundy from this vineyard. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034. Jean-Nicolas Meo began harvesting on September 12. He did 17-18 days of cuvaison and did one racking before the wines were prepared for bottling. I was not able to taste a handful of wines that were racked just before my visit, including the Cros Parantoux. Meo is among the growers who believe the 2009s will age well on their depth of fruit.
