2016 Sorì Tildìn from Gaja, Italy

Stepping into the realms of the 2016 Sorì Tildìn from Gaja is like entering an Italian symphony, where every note rings with precision, depth, and enchantment. Gaja, a titan of their native Italy and a stalwart in global wine circles, presents us with an exquisite specimen of what excellent vintages truly represent.

Vibrancy and Resilience: the tale of the season

The narrative of 2016 in the Langhe region was dictated by climate—a cool winter followed by a rainy Spring which preceded a warm summer. The grapes had to show resilience, leading to a slower ripening process that resulted in complex flavour profiles. This cultivates a tantalising tension within each bottle—the quiet anticipation before the orchestra's crescendo.

A tasteful performance: The 2016 harvest

The 2016 Sorì Tildìn eloquently expresses the climatic conditions of Langhe through its profound structure and intriguing subtlety. Its colour holds the intense ruby red shade, typical for great Nebbiolo wines, hinting at the intensity to be discovered within. The nose is captivated with sensual notes of dried roses, violet, ripe berry fruits— all caressed by an undercurrent of tar and earthy forest nuances.

Sorì Tildìn's palate proves a truly masterful composition— big-bodied, layered, sumptuous yet precise. It dances between ripe red fruit and minerality, accompanied by fine tannins that affirm its incredible ageing potential. This is a wine that enthrals now but promises to evolve spectacularly with time.

An investment masterpiece: Gaja and fine wine investments

Like a virtuoso playing to a silent hall, the 2016 Sorì Tildìn from Gaja plays to a discerning investor. Regarded as one of the fine wines from Italy, it combines exceptional artistry and assured longevity— key factors when investing in wine. The 2016 Gaja Sorì Tildìn’s potential for development and increasing complexity earmarks it as a promising plunge for the astute investor.

In conclusion, the 2016 Sorì Tildìn from Gaja is a harmonious blend of strength, elegance, and grace - encapsulating the spirit of Langhe and offering an investment opportunity that resonates deeply with the symphony of fine Italian wines.

Here's a wonderfully spicy and opulent rendition of Nebbiolo and another very full and rich Barbaresco from Gaja. The 2016 Barbaresco Sorì Tildìn is open, more concentrated and structured. There are pretty floral notes of rose hip or wild rose in this generous wine of broad scope. We're talking about smaller fruit here, with plums, cassis, blackberry and plenty of power. Everything came to perfect maturity in this 2016 vintage, representing that rare merge of quantity and quality. This is what you get from the dense soils of the warm, south-facing Sorì Tildìn site and similar ones where the terrain can keep the moisture locked in. The 2016 growing season was also marked by sharp diurnal shifts, and rainfall was well-timed to occur when it was needed most.
