2005 Cote Rotie Lancement by Domaine M&S Ogier D'Ampuis, Rhone
In the world of the Rhone Valley, 2005 shines with excellence and promises significant potential for tasteful evolution. The 2005 Cote Rotie Lancement from Domaine M&S Ogier D'Ampuis is a paragon of that promise, a testament to a harmonious marriage between factors of nature and winemaking skills.
Grapes Transformed By An Exemplary Season
The climatic conditions of 2005 painted broad strokes on the canvas of this wine by offering ample solar richness while maintaining a thermal balance invaluable for the maturation of Syrah. The character of Cote Rotie’s decomposed schist soils pervades the wine's depth, offering a poised and fiery profile to its tannin structure. Domaine M&S Ogier D'Ampuis exploits these conditions exquisitely and shows adeptness in making a wine as expressive as it is balanced.
The velvet tapestry woven by this stellar vintage integrates staggeringly vivid layers of peppered black fruit, smoky tar accents and underlying notes of cured meats. The interplay between these resoundingly rich elements and the modulation brought about by Cote Rotie soils grounds the titillating intensity to produce an incredibly elegant complexity.
A Vintage Hallmarked by Potential
Fine wine investors should take interest in the longevity bestowed upon this vintage from an exceptional year in the northern Rhône. With years in the bottle, the 2005 Cote Rotie Lancement from Domaine M&S Ogier D'Ampuis evolves to weave an even more intricate landscape of tastes that its fresh iteration only hints at. Its ageing potential defines it as one of few wines capable of exhibiting such dramatic evolution while maintaining the essence of its terroir.

I continue to love what comes from this site, and the 2005 Cote Rotie Lancement delivers a heavenly, la Mouline-like perfume of violets, flowers, olive tapenade, forest floor and sweet cassis. Full-bodied, seamless, elegant and still youthful, it can be enjoyed today with incredible pleasure, or cellared for 10-15 years.
