Complexity and Quality: The Markers of Investment Worthy Wines
Bordering the western hills in Oakville, Harlan's meticulously managed vineyards consistently yield some of the most compelling fine wines from USA. The attention to detail and laborious manual handling in the vineyards makes their Proprietary Red something one could easily include as a cornerstone of a balanced wine investment portfolio.
This particular vintage sings with notes of black cherries, mulberries and cassis interwoven with an undercarpet of crushed rocks and Chinese Five spice. The tannin structure is elegant yet assertive, working harmoniously with the acidity to project the wine's profound expressive breadth on a long, layered finish.
A 2016 Vintage Painted With Precision and Mastery
Napa Valley's 2016 growing season was impeccably choreographed by Mother Nature - enough springtime warmth for bud break but followed by temperate summer days and cool nights for a perfect ripening period. The result - flavorful grapes with balanced acidity and a moderated alcohol level.
The 2016 Proprietary Red, as an admirable testament to this vintage year, beautifully balances power with elegance, concentration with vitality, producing a multi-dimensional experience that lingers on the palate.
A rare offering as much as it is a proven performer, the 2016 Proprietary Red from Harlan Estate is quite simply, one of the most standalone vinous expressions from Napa Valley. Its investment potential is as alluring as the wine within the bottle. This revered US vintage is poised to provide a remarkable return on investment for its discerning collectors.

The deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Harlan Estate comes charging out of the glass, brandishing bold, opulent blackberry pie, warm cassis and blueberry preserves notes with hints of cigar box, Indian spices, crushed rocks and forest floor plus fragrant accents of lavender and black tea. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is built like a brick house, with a solid line of super ripe, grainy tannins and oodles of freshness supporting the layer upon layer of savory and earth-inspired notions, finishing on a lingering mineral note. Impressively structured, incredibly nuanced and possessing all this latent tension, this brazen beauty is set to live for a good 60 years and possibly more!
